Center for Critical Multimodal Literacies
The Center for Critical Multimodal Literacies is committed to leveraging the potential of multimodality in education and research for two related goals:
- providing critical and equitable instruction that improves student learning through multimodal pedagogies
- exploring and expanding the potential of multimodal texts and methods within qualitative inquiry
Who We Are
The Center serves as a community for scholars who use multimodal texts and research methods in their qualitative inquiries, especially those working in critical research traditions. It is also a community for educators who use multimodal texts to support critical literacy in their classrooms. Our fellows include interdisciplinary faculty and professionals working in schools and communities as well as graduate students and postdoctoral scholars who work directly with the Center.
